Interview with DeeDee Carey the nosy across-the-street neighbor from the Oscar the Doxie Detective series.

Welcome to our special interview segment featuring the one and only DeeDee Carey, the self-appointed watchdog of the Happy Hills community. Known for her keen eye and even keener opinions, DeeDee brings a unique perspective on the neighborhood’s quirkiest resident, Oscar, the Doxie Detective. Today, we dive into DeeDee’s thoughts about Oscar, whom she doesn’t hesitate to call a pest and a troublemaker.

Interviewer: Welcome, DeeDee. It’s great to have you here today. Let me ask the question everyone wants to know: What do you think of Oscar the Doxie Detective?

DeeDee Carey: Oh, darling, where do I even start? That little wiener dog is nothing but trouble on four tiny legs. It’s like he’s on a constant mission to turn Happy Hills upside down.

Interviewer: Really? I thought he was a hero in the community. Can you elaborate on your perspective?

DeeDee Carey: snorting with laughter Hero? More like a pest. I mean, who else digs through my garden looking for “clues”? I’ve lost enough roses to his snout to start my own black market flower trade. That dog has a nose for mischief, I tell you.

Interviewer: Sounds like you have a bit of a rivalry going on. What has Oscar done that you consider troublesome?

DeeDee Carey: leans in Let me give you a scoop. Last week, I was tending to my prize-winning Bird of Paradise when Oscar decided it was his personal sniffing ground. Next thing I know, he’s chasing a roadrunner, barking like a lunatic, and I have half the neighborhood thinking I’m hosting a canine circus. Good heavens, it’s a miracle my front yard survived at all.

Interviewer: Wow. That sounds chaotic. How does the community feel about Oscar, then?

DeeDee Carey: Oh, they’re smitten. “Look at Oscar, he’s so clever,” they coo. Clever? I call it a nuisance. He’s supposed to be solving crimes, not creating more. Last I checked, “watering” a neighbor’s prickly pear cactus isn’t a detective skill.

Interviewer: Fair point. Do you think there’s any redeeming qualities in Oscar?

DeeDee Carey: sighs dramatically I guess if there’s one thing Oscar does well, it’s keeping things interesting. I never knew how many late-night neighborhood watch meetings could be sparked by a dog watering a neighbor’s prickly pear cactus, if you get my drift. Maybe he has some sort of charisma if you can see past the chaos.

Interviewer: So perhaps he’s a menace, but also a bit of a celebrity in Happy Hills?

DeeDee Carey: With a smirk A celebrity nuisance, if you will. If I didn’t have my neighbor watch and the couponer’s club to distract me, I might just write a tell-all called The Doxie Dilemma, but who would believe a nosy neighbor like me, right?

Interviewer: Ha. It sounds like that would be quite a read. Thank you for sharing your insights, DeeDee. Here’s hoping for some peace in Happy Hills.

DeeDee Carey: Thank you. I’ll be keeping an eye on Oscar; he’s up to something, I just know it.

Welcome to my cozy corner, where I’m chatting with none other than Detective Arnold, police detective from Happy Hills, Arizona. Known for his gruff demeanor and no-nonsense approach to solving mysteries, Arnold finds himself in an unusual partnership with Oscar, the clever mini dachshund. Today, we dive into the intriguing dynamic between Arnold and Oscar, as well as the furry sleuths in the Happy Hills Canine Detective Club.

Q: Detective Arnold, thank you for joining us today. Let’s get right into it. What’s it like working alongside Oscar the Doxie Detective, the mini dachshund? We hear you two don’t always see eye to eye.

Detective Arnold: (grunts) Working with Oscar? Well, let me put it this way: Oscar has a knack for sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong. He thinks he’s a detective, but let’s be real, he’s just a dog. I’ve spent years studying criminal behavior, and I can tell you, a mini dachshund has no business getting involved in police work. Most days, I feel more like I’m his helper rather than the lead police detective.

Q: It sounds like you have your hands full. How does that affect your investigations?

Arnold: (sighs) It complicates things, to say the least. Oscar has a tendency to jump to conclusions that are downright ridiculous. Half the time, I’m trying to keep him from chasing after the wrong lead or barking at the wrong suspect. I mean, what does a dog know about criminal motives? But somehow, he has this sixth sense or whatever you want to call it that leads him to clues I might overlook.

Q: And what about the Happy Hills Canine Detective Club? How do you handle being outnumbered by a bunch of four-legged furry amateur detectives?

Arnold: (crosses arms) The Canine Detective Club makes my job a lot messier. I can barely keep track of them while trying to maintain some semblance of order. If I didn’t know better, I’d say they enjoy putting me in tight spots just for kicks. And don’t even get me started on Sam and Sara Mitchell. They’re always encouraging Oscar and the gang, adding fuel to the fire!

Q: So, the humans get involved too. How do Sam and Sara fit into this unique detective team?

Arnold: Sam and Sara are like a package deal. They support Oscar, which irks me to no end, but I have to give them credit where it’s due. They care about the town and want to help solve its mysteries. Their insight often leads us in the right direction even if it takes a good bit of patience on my part to listen. You could say they’re the glue that holds this crazy team together, even if it means I have to tolerate Oscar’s antics.

Q: With such a unique team dynamic, what keeps you returning to these cases, despite the challenges?

Arnold: (grins slightly) Deep down I care about the people of Happy Hills. Solving mysteries is what I do, gruff exterior or not. And despite my frustrations with Oscar, there’s no denying he and his friends sometimes point us in the right direction. Even though he is a pest, I can admit he has his moments.

Q: Any last words for our readers about your adventures in Happy Hills?

Arnold: (smirking) Keep an eye on the Canine Detective Club. They may be furry, but they’re smarter than most humans give them credit for. Just don’t expect me to take advice from a dachshund anytime soon!

Thank you, Detective Arnold, for a peek into the colorful world of mystery-solving alongside your furry counterparts. We look forward to the next case in Happy Hills!

Hi there cozy mystery fans! Today, we have a special treat for you!

I’ve managed to snag a chat with Oliver, the wise owl from my Howls and Hoots cozy mystery. Grab your favorite cup of tea and snuggle up while we talk about Willow Grove and Oliver’s amateur sleuth friends, Luna the cat, and the ever-adorable Moose the chihuahua.

Q: Welcome, Oliver! We’re thrilled to have you here. Can you tell us a little about your life in Willow Grove?
Oliver: Hoot! Thank you for having me. Willow Grove is a vibrant little town that’s a nest of intrigue, especially when the moon is full and shadows grow long. My perch in the old oak tree near the town’s bell tower gives me the perfect vantage point to observe the unfolding stories and the delightful shenanigans of my friends. It’s a cozy place filled with friendly faces and the occasional mystery just waiting to be solved.

Q: Speaking of mysteries, how do you contribute to the sleuthing adventures with Luna and Moose?
Oliver: Luna, Moose and I are quite the dynamic detective team. I provide them with wisdom and insights that often go unnoticed. Each night, as the town settles in, I hoot out clues that help them piece together the puzzles they encounter. And sometimes, my wide perspective allows me to spot things from above that could lead them closer to the truth.

Q: What’s your favorite memory of a case you’ve worked on?
Oliver: Oh, there are so many. One that stands out is the Great Willow Grove Baseball Cap Mystery. It turned out that the missing hats were being stolen by a family of raccoons. We tracked them down, and it became a delightful chase across the town’s rooftops. Moose was so determined to prove his bravery that he launched himself into the air, and Luna’s clever thinking saved the day when she used her agility to outsmart the raccoons. We returned the hats to their rightful owners, but not without a night full of laughter.

Q: As a wise owl, you must have many life lessons. Can you share one with our readers?
Oliver: Ah, yes! One lesson I hold dear is to always keep your eyes and ears open. The world is filled with clues and stories waiting to be discovered. Often, the answers we seek are right in front of us, if only we take the time to observe and listen. And don’t forget to enjoy the journey. Every case is an adventure, and every friend is a gift.

Q: Last question, Oliver: What would you say makes Willow Grove special?
Oliver: Willow Grove is unique because of its tight-knit community. Everyone knows one another, and there’s a sense of camaraderie that makes even the most puzzling predicaments feel manageable. Plus, with the beautiful bell tower, lush gardens, and friendly animals roaming about. It’s truly a picturesque setting for intrigue and friendship. The town itself feels alive, as if it has a heartbeat that echoes in the wind.

Thank you, Oliver, for sharing your insights with us today. Be sure to keep an eye (and an ear) out for more cozy mysteries from Willow Grove, where every day offers a new adventure waiting to be uncovered!
