I’m sure you know how important I believe reading is. Not only is it a great way to learn new things and gain knowledge, but it can also be a great source of relaxation.
Not all of us read comfortably. This may be due to several reasons, poor lighting, uncomfortable seating, or simply not holding a book or Kindle/e-reader in the proper position.
1. Make sure that you have adequate lighting. This will help avoid eye strain and will make it easier to read for extended periods of time.
2. Make sure you are seated in a comfortable position. An uncomfortable position can cause you to fidget and may even lead to back pain.
3. Hold the book or Kindle in a comfortable position. Avoid holding it too close to your face or too far away. I’ve purchased one of those laptop pillow foam stand cushions for my Kindle. It seems to take the strain off my muscles and neck.
4. Take breaks frequently. Reading for long periods of time can be tiring, so make sure to take breaks every 20 minutes or so.
5. Choose a comfortable place to read. This may be a quiet spot in your house or even outdoors in a park.
6. If you’re reading for relaxation, then give yourself permission to relax. Pour your favorite beverage, maybe a fun snack and sit back and allow yourself the pleasure escaping into a good book.
7. I’ve found using a pillow or cushion to support my back helps to take the strain off my neck and shoulders.
Reading is a great way to improve your mental well-being. It can help reduce stress, improve memory, and make you more creative and productive. That’s why it is important to make your reading experience as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
