The holiday season is the time of year that many of us are busy shopping, cooking, decorating, and spending time with family and friends. With all of these activities, reading may be pushed to the bottom of your to-do list. If you enjoy curling up with a good book, here are a few suggestions to help find time to read during the holidays.
Plan Ahead
One of the best things you can do to find time for reading during the busy holiday season is to plan ahead. Look at your calendar and schedule in some dedicated reading time. Whether it’s an hour in the morning before everyone wakes up, or 30 minutes before bed, having a designated time to enjoy a good book will help make it a regular part of your holiday routine.
Create a Reading List
Creating “to be read” list can help you stay motivated and reading during this often hectic time of the year. Make a list of the books you want to read and prioritize them based on what you’re most interested in. This will give you a sense of direction when it comes to choosing your next book and help make the most of your reading time.
Take a Book Everywhere
If you’re on the go during the holidays, make sure to bring a book along. Whether it’s in your purse, backpack, or suitcase, having a book on hand means you can sneak in a few pages whenever you have a spare moment. On a long car ride, or during a flight, are great opportunities to read a few pages and make progress on your current book.
Find a Reading Buddy
If you need some extra reading motivation during the holidays, find a reading buddy. This can be a friend, family member, or coworker who shares your love of reading. Set reading goals together, choose books to read at the same time, and make time to talk about what you’ve read. Having a reading buddy can keep you accountable and make reading a more social activity.
Make Reading a Priority
If you want quality time to read during the holidays, you’ll want to make reading a priority. This may mean saying no to a few invitations or activities in order to carve out some dedicated reading time.
Making time to read during the holidays may require some planning and prioritizing, but it’s definitely possible. So, grab a book, take a deep breath, and relax – you deserve it!
Happy Reading!!!
